Crazy Rumor: Hayden Christensen to Star as Superman in George Miller’s Justice League Mortal

If this is true then I think it's time someone started to fire EVERYONE involved with this movie!

I mean Hayden Christensen is now Superman IN JLA?????????? WTF!??? Someone shoot me!

In the words of Luke when he finds out Vader is his father.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Brandon Routh sucked but Hayden? Noway man! Hope this isn't true.

MAN The WB doesn't know what the hell they are doing! How about hire this generations Superman in Tom Welling who also happens to be hetero.  If you don't think it's such a bad idea then look at the picture on top!

While Hayden couldn't possibly be any gayer then Routh!!! And he is as bad an actor as Routh!!! He already tarnished Star Wars with his bad acting I wouldn't want him to ruin Superman any further! It's time to bring in this Generations Superman!! TOM WELLING!

If true, thank booze. Cinema Blend says they received an email from a reader who spotted future Flash Adam Brody at a bar in British Columbia. What a tip, eh? There’s more though. Brody, who was allegedly boozing it up with director George Miller, went on to rundown the cast for the newly/oddly titled Justice League Mortal. All of the names for the superhero team were the same names being reported in the press, with one exception: the reader says Brody told her that Jumper’s Hayden Christensen is now Superman. And then Brody apparently signed her napkin.
Bogus? Perhaps. Now, the role is rumored to be filled by relative unknown D.J. Corona, and prior to that, Scott Porter (Music and Lyrics) was also tipped.

Maybe the Blend should request a photo of the napkin (”Dude, that’s Brody’s lightning bolt!”). As the site points out, is the JLMSupes.
cast currently bar hopping up there for the helluva it? But Christensen would also make sense for the troubled Warner Bros. production, which is apparently scouting locations in Canada after being leaving Australia over a tax rebate disagreement. A more recognizable name would draw attention away from the damp buzz. More on this as it develops. And yeah, I agree, Christensen is not an ideal

Discuss: Have you ever run into Adam Brody at a bar? Hayden Christensen did a good nerd journo in Shattered Glass, but he also put many to sleep (permanently?) in those prequels. Thoughts? Is Justice League Mortal a silly title? Should they just go ahead and add Kombat? Have any of our Canadian readers seen Brody recently?

WB says Goodbye to Bryan, and now also Brandon!? The WB ready to move on with Welling in the Superman Role???

Well the last few days have been rather interesting if I may say so myself... First off I'd like to say Happy Holidays to everyone who checks up on these blogs, and on the main page "TheManFromKrypton.Cjb.Net" oh, and sorry that I haven't had many updates of late but with the Holidays, and all I haven't had much time to "blog." lol :)

But this doesn't mean the WB hasn't been busy!!!! No No from the looks of it they maybe starting to turn a corner in the right direction!

Reports broke that both Singer & Routh wouldn't be back (Which I have been asking for well a while now!) for the up coming sequels after the JLA movie.

Well the actual report if read correctly says that they won't be involed with the new JLA movie which is something we have all known about for some time now. I still hold out hope that the WB does indeed fire Singer, and Routh, and hire Welling for the role of Superman! Here is the news from Variety

January 3, 2008
Anne Thompson at
Variety has posted some interesting things about the
"Superman" franchise, new Justice League movie and third Batman pic:Speaking of
DC Comics pics, it is highly unlikely that Bryan Singer will return to shoot the
next Superman movie. (The director is finishing up Tom Cruise's Nazi film
Valkyrie, and prepping The Mayor of Castro Street). The next Superman we will
see on the big screen will not be Brandon Routh, but a younger Superman among a
cast of youthful superheroes in The Justice League. That movie will likely not
be shot, however, until after the WGA strike is resolved. Warners is so happy
with Dark Knight that their fondest hope is that Nolan will return to do another
Batman. While none of this is official, stay tuned for more on these projects!

But wait! There is much more, rumor has it that the WB is going to move in the direction I personally think is the right way to go! Reports over on iesb's forum is that Tom Welling is indeed interested, and thinking about taking the role or JLA.

It makes perfect sense getting Welling now, and then letting do an entire season or two extra of him as Superman on tv, and then do a SUPERMAN movie or more JLA movies.

The timing is a good one especially since this writers strike has well cut the latest Smallville season short from it's 22 episodes to 15 giving him more then enough time to be in the movie, and still be ready for next season.

This is a direct quote....

I've tried posting this twice but keep getting logged out for some
reason...Okay...You don't know how right you may actually be.I have to apologize
but I've been holding out on you guys a little.
I woke up to see Latino Review is hearing mostly the same thing with only part missing so since I like being the first to announce things whenever possible, here it goes.

Latino Review backed up the Variety story about Singer leaving (which I actually announced in Dec 2006) and that Routh would not be returning to play Superman (again I have them beat by a year). They also said the actor from JLA would take over the solo Superman films. Here's where I may know a bit more or they just aren't ready to spill it yet. They mentioned they got the news of Routh not returning several weeks ago from WB people and promised not to be the ones to say anything. Well, I got the same news back in late November with a bit more detail than what they said.
I was also told that no casting announcement was made on Nov 18th because
of the writer's strike. Not because it affected the script but because it stood
the chance of freeing up a certain person of interest about 2 months early from
his filming commitments which it has officially done so the wait seems to have
paid off.

The constant "No comments" and lack of denials were due to ongoing
(and still going) negotiations with Tom Welling. He supposedly has discussed
this with a close friend and was told that it is already too late to avoid being
typecast and he should go where the money is or risk ending up with no career
after Smallville.

He is apparently giving this serious thought. Does it mean he
will sign?? Not necessarily but it does mean there is still a lot of hope left.

Well like I've said before only time will tell but it seems that the only time the JLA movie has had any serious buzz on line, and especially any positive buzz is when Tom Welling's name comes up for the role of SUPERMAN.

Let's hope that the WB learns from it's past mistakes, and doesn't hire another MTV reject, and just gives Welling the role which he should have had from the start!

Tom Welling is Superman for this generation like it or not...

lol good job on that "WILDE" I love those suits...
UPDATE: Brandon Routh won't be returning as The Man of Steel?
Ahhhh I love when sites check their sources, and try to debunk each other! It just shows how much bullshit really goes on behind the scenes with these stupid websites all trying to one up each other, and create a little buzz so people will go to their sites, and up their hit count.
Check out the latest rounds of rumors!! This is just getting funny...

Ainitcoolnews has an update to the Routh rumor I posted that he will no longer be playing Superman in the stand alone sequel. Moriarty says he got off the phone with someone in the know at Warner Brothers who has confirmed that Routh is still The Man of Steel:

I just got off the phone with a very high-ranking mole who is absolutely in a position to know what's happening with this film, and he tells me that it is "absolutely false" that Brandon Routh is out as Superman for the stand-alone series.
The only thing that has been determined is that JUSTICE LEAGUE will not feature the actors from the other films. That's it.
Right now, Routh is still Warner's choice to return if they make another stand-alone SUPERMAN film, and that's based on conversations as recently as a few weeks ago.
Don't believe this one, kids. Routh's still the Man of Steel.
If this is true I'm glad. I like Routh in the role. Things change in Hollywoodland and what we heard a couple of months ago could certainly be different that what we're hearing now. Maybe Warner changed their minds? Or maybe they're saving face because they didn't want anything leaked too early? Couldn't tell ya. All I can tell you is what we were told a couple of months ago by our DC contacts. If things have changed since then, then that's good news for fans of Brandon.

News is a funny thing. Sometimes when its reported the person who reported it gets the credit for breaking the news. Latinoreview has always tried to be the front runner in breaking casting news. Sometimes we miss, but most of the time we're dead on.

Kelvin knew about Brandon not being the new Superman for weeks and weeks now, but made a promise to the DC people that he wouldn't break the story. Variety has now confirmed what we've secretly known for a while and Brandon Routh will be replaced in the stand alone sequel by whomever is cast as Superman in the upcoming Justice League of America movie.

**EDIT** Other sites are breaking our balls about how I wrote this news piece, so let me correct it. (It's my first news article. Give me a break people!) The article does not state that whomever is cast as Superman will also be the same actor to carry on the stand alone Superman sequel, but we've heard otherwise. If we're wrong, you can go back to breaking said balls.

Personally, I thought Brandon did a great job. He had the look to pull off the character and the girls all went nuts for him in tighty tights (I conducted a poll). It wasn't his fault that the script was bad. Hopefully Hollywood knows what they're doing in casting someone who may be even younger than Routh in the role. I don't know what the fascination is with younger casting, especially for super heroes. But I'll take a younger actor if it means Nicolas Cage can't go anywhere near the role.

Click on the source link above to check out the article.

IF YOU WANT TO BREAK MY BALLS EMAIL ME: george@latinoreview.com
Everyone should E-Mail these clowns, and tell them to stop it with this bullshit already, and just wait until the WB is god damn ready to announce something!

Or just link these clowns my site, and let them read me telling them to quit this bullsh*t, and stop leaking false rumor's, and lies just to help create some sort of online buzz!

It's funny but it's starting to get fu**ing annoying!

WB Ready to announce the JLA CAST? Leaked info!?

Well All I can say is that after MONTHS of waiting, and weeks of teasing with Tom Welling being cast, and then not cast, and then re-cast, and now we get this leaked cast from slashfilm which has been backed by other sites, and well to be honest folks IMO this cast is a total JOKE!

This movie looks like it's going to be batha poodoo! To quote Star Wars one more time... "I have a bad feeling about this!"

After the total fuckup that was Superman Returns we get this!
George Miller directing a JLA movie with yet another pretty boy actor who doesn't even look the part!

Tom Welling is who the people want to see in the suit, and yet some how this little tid bit of news fails to ring any bells over at the WB...

So 3 people will now be in live versions of the character in the same span of 5 years.... That's total HORSE SHIT! And wrong to do to any character let alone THE MAN OF STEEL! There should only be one live action Superman per generation! This is how your make people believe, and you make them interested.

Tom Welling is who the mass public knows, and has in their mind as Superman, and like it or not he's the actor who's played the role the longest on any sort of live incarnation! The fact that on the show we won't probably ever see him wear the suit, and this current writers strike which looks like it's going to last a while it would have been nice to have had Tom in the suit, and it would have been a nice reward to all the fans who have fought so hard from before Singer was even on board to direct Superman Returns.

The fans deserve a lot more then to be un heard! If we can't get this then allow the creators of Smallville to do what they set out to do from the start of the show, and that's spin it off to their own Superman movies...

Lord knows this JLA Movie isn't going anywhere, and me thinks that might be the only hope we have of watching an actual SUPERMAN movie that does the character justice! Which each episode of Smallville Tom Welling is looking more, and more the role, and his acting is embracing the character so well it's like HE IS CLARK KENT aka SUPERMAN! His personality, and his acting sells the show regardless of the some times cheesy plots, and acting.

Much like how Chris Reeve saved his 4 movies from being total disasters!
Let's be honest other then Chris Reeve there isn't much to those movies! They pretty much blow if you ask me! The fx don't hold up at all, the acting is crappy, the storylines are garbage! Except for "Superman: The Movie" which is the only one that even it's some what major flaws still managed to tell a stunning origin tale. One which nobody should remake... That I agree 100% on.

It's been done to death, and there is no need to start there again, and with Tom Welling's Superman you get that chance to start in the middle when he's already at the daily planet. There is no need to start over because we already have 7 soon to be 8 or 9 seasons worth of Origin to keep us all happy.

Also as a fan of the character having another guy playing him after Welling, Routh is insulting to the character, and to the fans who have invested in both Welling, and Routh.

Honestly Routh sucked but I'd rather have him that the guy rumored to be in JLA! lol At least Routh looks like Chris Reeve a bit, and if it's a big cast he won't have to do much acting so you can keep his lines to a few, and focus on the other cast members... But now to add a 3rd guy! That's just wrong!

And this is why Marvel kicks the DC/WB Behind with each movie! JLA Won't even sniff Fantastic Four money or even X MEN 1, 2 or 3 money!

Marvel does things the right way, and it's why I feel the WB will blow it again with this craptacular filled cast, and Miller will be taking his Happy Feet else where, and never near another Superman related project, and for that matter after this flop we probably won't see another Superman related project in years.

Singer dug the grave, and Miller will now put the final nail in the coffin, and dump the dirt on these beloved characters.

Sometimes I wish that the family of the characters creator would win in their law suits, and would get all rights back, and maybe then one day from a REAL studio we might get a REAL Superman movie!

If this news is true then there are some dark times ahead for us Superman fans... At least we have 1 or 2 more years of Smallville to keep us happy, and the seasons on dvd so we could watch the real face to this generations live action SUPERMAN!

I hope this casting of Superman in JLA is bogus... Here's me praying...

First Look: Justice League of America Cast?

Warner Bros is set to announce the
official cast for George Miller’s
Justice League of America
movie next week, but studio spies have leaked a supposed preview of what we
should expect. Note: none of the following cast has been officially confirmed,
and being late Friday night, it’s likely we won’t hear anything until Monday at
earliest. But let’s take a look at the rumored cast of Justice League.

Scott Porter (Speed Racer, Friday Night Lights) is Superman. Created in 1932, Superman is considered to be the most famous comic book character of all time.
Born on an alien planet called Kryton, Kal-El was sent to Earth moments before
the planet’s destruction. Adopted and raised by a Kansas farmer and his wife,
Clark Kent (earth name) was brought up with a strong moral compass. Upon reaching maturity Clark developed superhuman abilities including flight, speed, strength, stamina, durability, senses, intelligence, breath, and heat vision, later resolving to use these for the benefit of humanity. Justice League Superman is supposed to take place in a different continuity than the Bryan
Singer and Richard Donner stories.

Adam Brody (The O.C., Thank You For Smoking) is Wally West aka The Flash. Justice League supposedly begins with the funeral of Barry Allen, the second Flash (1956-1986). His nephew (by marriage) Wally West was exposed to electrically charged chemicals at ten years old when he was visiting his uncle’s police laboratory. West donned a copy of his uncle’s outfit and became the young crime fighter named Kid Flash. After Barry Allen was killed, Wally took over as the fastest man alive. The Flash possesses “super-speed,” and superhuman reflexes which allow him to violate certain laws of physics. Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus helmer David Dobkin is signed on to direct a Flash feature film following production of Justice League.

Common (Smokin’ Aces, Wanted) is John Stewart aka The Green Lantern, who first appeared in July 1940. The Green Lantern possesses a power ring that gives him control over the physical world as long as the wielder has sufficient willpower and strength to wield it. Greg Berlanti (The Broken Hearts Club) is set to direct a feature film based on the character following the JLA movie. Berlanti is penning the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.

Teresa Palmer (Wolf Creek, The Grudge 2) as Talia Ghul - a recurring love interest for Batman. Her father, Ra’s al Ghul, the leader of a worldwide criminal empire, considers Batman the man most worthy to marry Talia and to become his heir. Not quite heroine, nor villainess Talia has undoubtedly committed criminal acts; but out of loyalty to her father and not for personal gain. She has also saved Batman’s life or helped him on numerous occasions.

UPDATE: 11/19 (2:40pm)

Well it seems that Mr Scott Porter, a cast member of NBC's Friday Night Lights, told The Continuum that reports that he has been cast as Superman in the Justice League movie are "purely rumor and speculcation."

Turns out that Porter said he auditioned for the role of The Flash for the film, which is being directed by George Miller but from what he understood was beaten out for the role by Adam Brody! Still enough to make one gag over the choice of Flash. Ryan Reynolds is the perfect actor for the Wally West role, and is also a fan favorite. To cast someone else is spitting in the face of the fans... At least make this "Kid Flash" or something! I mean Adam doesn't look older then 15 for christ sake! At least this gives us some peace of mind.

Now if the WB could only get off it's ass, and announce Tom Welling as Superman already, and make us all happy the world would be a wonderful place!

Porter sat down with The Continuum on Sunday at Wizard World Texas to discuss the film, his audition and the possibility of him playing Superman.

UPDATE: 11/19 (6:49pm)

Well it looks like the folks over at SuperheroHype.com has a different list of actors who they think are rumored to be cast in this JLA movie. Teresa Palmer, and Common seems to be the only Common (Pun intended) names that are on both lists....

I smell a big batch of horse crap here!

This D.J Cotrona guy reminds me a bit of James Caviezel but without the acting chops, and James looks a bit more Supermanish then D.J who looks like the very badly water down version or a poor man's James Caviezel.

The rest of the Hype's cast looks horrid! So who's lying, and who's telling us the truth?
Well only time will tell who lies, and from the looks of this I'm going to start calling this "JLA: Casting Gate" because this whole thing has taken an unusual twist, and from the looks of it we're all going to be a bit mad no matter what the out come!

New Justice League Cast Members?

Source: Superhero Hype!
November 19, 2007

Keep in mind that
Warner Bros. has yet to reveal any cast members, but this
is a list of names Superhero Hype! received over the weekend as to who might be
cast in Justice League. Yes, we realize the much rumored
Adam Brody is not listed here as The Flash. Our answer? We just don't know what's up, plain and simple:

Superman -
D.J. Cotrona
Batman - Armie Hammer
Wally West/The Flash - Anton Yelchin
Aquaman - Santiago Cabrera
Iris - Zoe Kazan
Wonder Woman - Megan Gale
Talia al Ghul - Teresa Palmer
Green Lantern - Common

We must repeat, the above names are not confirmed. They might not be confirmed for a while, because a new article talking about the writers strike at The Hollywood Reporter says that Justice League might not be as sure of a thing as it seems:At Warner Bros., "Justice League of America" finds itself without a shooting script and has options expiring on potential actors who recently were screen tested. As a result, it might have to postpone production.

Dougherty and Harris Out of Superman "The Man of Steel"

Probably the start of something good?
Well it's the best news I've heard in a very long time especially since the latest leaks on JLA have been rather craptacular! I think it's time to admit it Superman Returns was a mistake, and Dan, and Mike are just as much to blame on the movie sucking as it did as the director Bryan Singer, and the cast of monkeys who were given top dollar to act like fools, and not fool anyone in their role.

Nobody bought Brandon Routh as Superman/Clark Kent, and if you like his version of Superman/Clark Kent then your fucking retarded! And I mean that in the meanest way possible!
Seriously any grown man who says Brandon "Was awesome" is just retarded. This is a big step in the right direction, and now we will wait until Singer parts ways, and then the WB announces Tom Welling as the JLA, and new Superman for the big screen.

Once we get that then the ship will get corrected... Anyway check out the article over at Variety.

MARC GRASER

Superman needs some ideas for what his next adventure might be.

"Superman Returns" scribes Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris have opted not to come back and pen a sequel to the 2006 summer pic that would have reunited them with helmer Bryan Singer. The three also worked together on "X2: X-Men United."

As a result, WB is now taking pitches for Supe's next outing from other scribes -- just as the studio is trying to figure out which actor will don the character's tights in "Justice League."

Industry chatter claimed the studio would start fresh with a new take on the Man of Steel, as if the previous pic never happened.

Reasons mentioned were the introduction of Superman's son with Lois Lane, as well as the film's less-than-expected domestic haul of $200 million and another $191 million overseas.

Marvel Studios is adopting that let's-try-again strategy with "The Hulk"Edward Norton, will launch a franchise that Ang Lee's 2003 actioner failed to do. at Universal, hoping a new pic, starring

But WB denies such plans and said next pic would be a sequel with Brandon Routh likely to wear the "S" on his chest again. Legendary Pictures is co-developing and co-financing the project.

New pic also will up the action quotient, however -- something Singer promised fanboys at last year's Comic-Con in San Diego.

Dougherty and Harris are pursuing more directing gigs, with Dougherty having recently completed "Trick 'R Treat" at WB as his first pic. He's also looking to pen a graphic novel and children's book.

Harris, who had previously helmed "Imaginary Heroes," is writing and directing "I, Lucifer," based on the book, with Daniel Craig attached to star.

Even Dean Cain Thinks Singerman Sucks

Heh sometimes things happen which just bring a smile to my face, and well this report by SSS nearly brought me to tears.... But they we're not from crying in pain but from laughter!

As many know Dean Cain played Clark Kent/Superman on the ABC hit tv show "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" he played the role for 4 seasons, and to be honest while too short for the role, and well not the right look he did a bang up job at making the role his own.

I think the reason why his Clark Kent worked so well was because he wasn't a total Chris Reeve rip off act it was original, and modern.
It was with the times... Dean Cain forever linked himself to the role of Superman, and now he finds himself many years after his show back where it all began! On a show about Superman.

This one is the show Smallville the hit CW show which features actor Tom Welling in the lead as Clark Kent. The man who will one day become SUPERMAN.

Well over at SSS they poked a bit of fun at an interview Cain gave where well let's say he wasn't too happy with Superman Returns, and the lack of words actually speak louder then the words them self's.

Read the funny interview with Dean Cain...

Well you know you've reached a different plateau of "suckitude" when the worst Superman of all time, i.e. Dean Cain, thinks you suck. In an appearance on the KTLAHERE if you can stand the vapid, tedious morning show banter), Cain was on talking about his guest appearance on an upcoming episode of Smallville as well as his time in the tights, when the subject of Singerman was breached by one of the douchebag morning news anchors (who himself even called the film "not very good"). He kind of puts Cain on the spot about his impressions of the film. Cain's response: 'Um it didnt do very well at the box office...but it was umm

Really Dean? That's all you could come up with? You couldn't even put out a "it wasn't too bad" or something even a bit more positive? That's like going out on a first date and when a friend asks you how it went, you respond by telling him that she had nice shoes. You could tell Deano
morning show ( you can watch the video "visually stunning," I'll tell you that." was struggling to find something, ANYTHING to come up with on the spot, and that's all he (a Princeton University grad BTW) could come up with? Hilarious, to say the least.

Clint's from moviehole.net got the rundown on Justice League

Well this one just throws me for a loop!

After weeks of rumor's, and internet leaks via EMAIL'S we get word from Clint at Moviehole.net that this is the JLA movie the WB is making.

Well I'm sure once you read the details you will see why this for me is the final straw... Other then Smallville & the Bale/Nolan franchises I will not support another WB franchise until they clean up their act!

They should be ashamed of them self's with how badly they mistreat these characters, and how badly they mistreat the fans.

Mark my words! Kid friendly or not this movie won't even make Superman Returns numbers... Prepare for a total flop!

Date : October 18, 2007 Writer : Clint Morris

Clint here,

Just returned from doing a TV interview – hope you yankies understand my brash, strong Aussie accent – to find a fat envelope on the dusty doormat. Inside? Several pages from the “Justice League” script – clearly marked [removed]. Yep, this here tree was cut down so [removed] effects guys would know what they’re working with.

So what are they working with? Well, not a lot. Not to say the film reads terrible, it doesn’t, it’s just that it reads more like a Saturday Morning ‘Superfriends’ cartoon than anything else – like, say, something that’ll appeal to the over twenties crowd - and basically, WETA need only look at the old cartoons to seek inspiration for their whizbang dressings. Having said that, maybe that’s exactly what they’re going for – a family-friendly toon-esque romp; like say “The Rocketeer” or “Sky High”.

The film introduces the main characters very quickly – as if they’re a 42-minute TV show and have to get it done quickly. You don’t get to know much about any of our central heroes before they all unite.

The film opens with John Stewart/The Green Lantern leaving space for the beachy surroundings of what’s described in the brief as being a “San Diego” like town – its there that he’ll have to rescue a Submarine crew (I don’t think I’ll give away the finer aspects of the sequences – just to say they could look impressive) from something with “a lot of arms”. We’re next introduced to Aquaman, who spots the leviathan battering a lighthouse. A large-scale skirmish occurs between the sea hero and the sea villain. Then, Wonder Woman is introduced – but not before Superman, in a mid-air fight, crashes her scene. Next, The Flash gets his big intro scene….

Rescuing plainclothes detective Ben Chyre from a ‘ticking’ bear – something ‘the Trickster’ has cooked up. The Flash has a bit of fun with a news crew – says something so fast that they’re unable to use it on air – which might evoke a laugh or two.

We’re introduced to our villain, Max Lord, as he watches a monitor where[what appears to be] Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman etc are ‘’terrorizing a building full of homeless people. Destroying the arches and pulling the supports down…” We then learn that Lord has captured a team of superheroes already – “ULTRAMAN, SUPERWOMAN, OWLMAN, JOHNNY QUICK and POWER RING...” – who he plans to use for his own devious mission : pit them against the “Justice League”.

We see the “Hall of Justice” being built – on the outskirts of space – by the team themselves; as well as many “construction robots”. Seems Wayne Industries is footing the bill for it.

Within a couple of minutes, alarm bells ring and the team er, suit up for action. The alarm bells have signalled for a visitor from Mars…. Martian Manhunter, who naturally the team presume is evil at first. The visitor informs the gang that their world is “at an end” and so begins their plight to destroy Lord and the OMACs.

Look, the film seems pretty underwhelming, sure, but what I think might’ve been their motivation here is to distance themselves from any of the “Superman” or “Batman” films already in existence – which is something the fans will be thankful for – and as this is merely light and fluffy cartoon adventure-stuff, without any of the dark undertones of those other films (largely “Batman”), they’ve definitely succeeded in that. This will definitely appeal to a much younger crowd than those that say, loved “Batman Begins” – it’ll be one the twelve-years-olds go ga-ga for. In fact, Batman doesn’t even seem to have much of a part to play here – not the pages I read anyway; it’s almost as if he’s a secondary character or Warner have told the producers they can only use a “bit of him” – and definitely isn’t the same Caped Crusader we’ve seen on the screens for the past couple of years. In fact, if this is anyone’s movie it’s The Flash’s… he gets most of the gags, a lot of the action, and seems to have quite a few more scenes- again, in the pages I read – than the others. If the character is cast right – I believe Adam Brody (“the OC”) is the favourite at this stage – he could be the break-out character here…. the one the twelve-year olds want on a T-Shirt.

So all-in-all, “Justice League” won’t be our film – and when I say ‘our’ I mean, commonly anyone considered of adult age – but it will probably be right up the kids’ alley. It’s essentially a live-action version of “Superfriends” – in terms of pace, story and set-up.

Robert Sanchez from IESB is at it again! (JLA Casting News)

I wonder if Mr Sanchez is a fan of John Kerry because man is he ever the flip flopper!

One week he's on, and the next week he's not, and then he is... lol Over on IESB he's reporting that Welling is still in negotiations which as you might know from reading my sites news they just reported what I have been saying all along!

He's in negotiations, and is the studios top choice! There won't be any news on the casting for a bit I heard maybe another month!

We might find out about some of the smaller known hero's being cast but the big names (Superman, Batman) probably won't be disclosed for a good minute.

I hope he gets cast so Mr Sanchez can safe face because this flip flopping is not making him look good lol... Anyway read the entire post on the bottom.

Robert Sanchez
wrote

Hey Guys/Gals Sorry about the lack of solid Justice League news, people are being very quiet but I did get an a call from an agent friend of mine from ________ just a few minutes ago and told me that as of yesterday Welling was still in negotiations. So what has been going on? First let me try to explain a little about the New York Times article, they were wrong, almost. Pretty simple, I have been told by various sources that this film is moving forward 100%.

So is Justice League green lit? "Officially" no, why? The movie is officially in "Prep" and could stay in prep mode til about 6 weeks before cameras roll. The reasons studios do this is because once a movie is officially green lit then that is when the studios have to start paying off producers and so on and so on.

By keeping it in pre-production they can hold on to their cash a little longer. This happens all the time and is not new in Hollywood. Pre-production is full steam ahead with all departments working full time on the project.
In regards to Tom Welling, we have been reporting for awhile that WB execs want Welling but that it was always Gough/Millar who were causing problems, they want to be producers on the film.

It's always about the dough, fair enough.
I am hearing that key roles have been filled but I haven't been able to get any confirmations of which ones. I have read what Countingdown is reporting, sounds plausible, I think Friday may be a little pre-mature, but who knows. Oh, almost forgot, the script is complete and has been complete for a bit, who knows maybe a review will pop online sometime soon ;) Yes friends, Justice League is coming summer of 2009.

Man of Steel has a new director? - ALIEN

Well kids this might be the news we have all been waiting for!
Looks like Singerman might actually be dead, and gone for good!!!!! And to that all I can say is THANK GOD!

If this is true then it's wonderful news... If fake then I hope the guy who wrote this gets hit by a semi truck!

Hello Maniacs,

Not sure what a blog is, seems like people post news info here. This was sent o me via email from a site called reelnews.com? Not sure if the below is true. But with the fast track of JLA and the Man of Steel being put on the back burner, I thought maybe there is some legitimacy to this report.

Is there another area I can post this? I visit here a lot, but I mostly just read the news, not familiar with the site as of yet. Below is the email.

"Okay, I have some vital information that will be very shocking when certain people find out. I visit this site frequently and today I joined to give this awesome news.

[i]As you know the news surrounding the Superman Returns sequel: The Man of Steel is very eradicate and confusing. The good news (or bad news) is that a secret conversation between Alan F. Horn and Barry M. Meyer has been recorded regarding the future of the Superman Sequel. Variety reported a few days ago that Kevin Spacey is tapped to play Lex Luthor in the Sequel. This is false, Spacey did meet with Singer, but that was Singer's doing and had nothing to do with the Sequel. Also, Singer also pitched and idea for the sequel and was not given very good news. This is Singer's pitch: Superman is enjoying a successful return to protecting not only America but the world from prejudice and hate. Superman is even helping science by giving them detailed information on his journey to his demolished home world. In fact some images Superman returned with look odd and we see some kind of spacecraft that seems to be hiding behind either debris or planets. Superman finds this odd due to them not being detected by his ship. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor is trapped on and island with Kitty when an unknown object lands nearby. Luthor of course is more curious than scared and approaches the spacecraft. As the door opens, none other than Brainiac steps of the ship. Brainiac introduces himself, as Lex's new Master. Lex Luthor of Course has a proposition for him.

Moving on, another villain is waiting in the shadows, how this person came to earth is unknown, but he seems to have the exact same powers as Superman. He wreaks havoc and terror on the world and Superman has to investigate.

This is as much of the story has was told by Singer until Horn cut him off and said he did not think this story was neither interesting nor exciting. The conversation goes on to say that Meyer is not even going to listen to another word until a REAL Villain can challenge superman and it has more action.

In fact, Both Horn and Meyers told Singer that they will be interviewing other writers and Directors because they feel that Superman Returns was not exactly a box office smash. Now, to the recorded conversation between Horn and Meyers: Horn calls Meyer to discuss the likely possibility that they will be needing to hire a new director. Meyer suggests someone hip and new that can handle SFX, action and drama. Meyer would like to see Stephen Gaghan (Syriana) take over the project. Horn likes the suggestion but thought ether Edward Zwick (The Last Samurai) or Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon and Superman) should take over. Meyer likes the idea of Zwick, but thinks Donner is not a bankable name. Horn disagrees and would like to talk to all three directors. Horn gets in contact with Zwick and he is interested. Zwick also said that Donner is a great choice and should be given another chance. Zwick was also shocked that Singer was not a definite show in. Zwick says that he is not an avid Comic fan nor does he understand Superman's Mythology. Horn said that is why he would be perfect, because he can see what the fans what and not be bias.

Meyer and Horn talk again. They think that another director might be the way to go. They also agree that the suit has to be changed back to the Red, blue and Yellow and get back to the basic design. They also agree that Lex should not even be a villain in the movie and should have a very minor role. [/i]

MTV will be getting the audio soon. I am sure they will post it or print the story. This is huge news that had to be shared. I guarantee that if Horn and Meyers were contacted, they would be completely shocked and would have no comment.

This news saddens me, as I think Singer did great on Superman Returns. The story for the sequel sounds exciting and it sounds like it continues from the first movie. Donner and Zwick would be horrible choices and Gaghan is not really a defined director. It is just wild what happens behind the scenes of film makers.

I have worked for Warner Brothers for 3 years, and this is probably gonna get me fired. "

Bryan Singer Headed For Superman Trial

Well it's not that he doesn't deserve to stand trial for the horror's he's done to the world of Comics but this is just pretty funny stuff here.

Looks like Bryan's got some explaining to do!

Posted by Patrick on 09/25 at 03:13 PM
Is one of the reasons for the slow committal from Warner Bros. to make a Superman Returns sequel due to the fact that Bryan Singer is going to have to go to court over who owns the rights to the Man of Steel?

I’m going to throw that idea out there. Here’s why:
As I discovered on the The Beat comics blog (which was originally gleaned from this blog), Singer is going to have to give a deposition to the court presiding over the Superboy and Superman lawsuit cases. You can learn the details in greater depth if you follow the second link above but in a nutshell the widow and daughter of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel are suing Warner Bros. for 50% of the rights for both Superboy and Superman.

The Siegels are basing their claims on the definition of copyright claims as they were defined when Siegel and Jerome Shuster sold their interest in Superman to DC Comics back in 1938, revised in later years, and specificed by the American government as to how copyright could be reclaimed by the creators. For a longer, more detailed explanation hit Newsarama’s overview of the case.
Trexfiles learned that, two weeks ago today, the court ordered that Superman Returns director Bryan Singer give a deposition to the court sometime before November 30, 2007. The court also ruled that the case over who has 50% ownership of the rights to Superman will go to trial on January 22, 2008.
The outcome of this trial will have huge ramifications over the future appearances of the character. It could threaten to derail a Superman sequel. It may even have the power to reshape the JLA movie and future seasons of Smallville or any other Superman/Superboy TV and/or movie projects. And this story is not really getting the attention that it deserves.
Stay tuned for more as it develops.

It's Official: Justice League Moving Ahead at WB

Warner Bros. is moving aggressively ahead with the big screen adaptation of DC Comics' Justice League of America, with George Miller (Happy Feet) on board to direct, reports Variety.

The project, which is in the initial phases of casting, is a pre-strike priority for the studio, which needs a superhero tentpole in 2009.

Still, making all the pieces fit has been complicated by overlapping superhero projects in the pipeline, since "Justice League" features a pantheon of superheroes, including Superman and Batman.

Batman and Superman are active properties for the studio, though the next installment in the Superman franchise has taken a backseat to "Justice League" in part because Warners is so keen on the "Justice League" script by Kieran and Michele Mulroney.

"Justice League" will likely feature the characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and Aquaman.

The project is so complicated -- and casting dependent -- that even those deeply involved in the project are holding their breath until production begins.

"They're working very hard to get it to happen," said one party close to the project. "But there are so many characters it's complicated."

Funny UPDATE from SSS 9/21 -
Well just when you give IESB some credit for getting a scoop right it seems they've served up a big "shit sandwich" on their "big scoop" from last month about Tom Welling being the JLA's Man of Steel. Nice job, go on TV to declare to the masses that this is going to happen and then a few weeks later back away from it with the infamous "I have no idea what happened." Like I said if they were wrong on this they're going to get fried regardless of the Miller thing. They've likely now succeeded in pissing off a seemingly overwhelming amount of fans of Welling/Smallville who because of this may now have some vitriol against the JLA film when before they probably would've cared very little. Add this to the half dozen girls left on BrandonRouth.com that still care about him and feel as if he's getting replaced, and it's going to be UGLY when the new guy is announced. Way to go IESB!
Man do you guys get it! That's exactly how the fans feel right now if Welling isn't cast as Superman in JLA this movie will suffer the same backlash as Superman Returns.
Pretty much WB your throwing your money away if you don't hire Welling.
Superman is the main focus in JLA really, and his casting has to be perfect for people to really accept this movie. Routh is hated by MOST of the fans, and his movie is loathed by a majority of the public.

To bring him into JLA would only bring that baggage with him...
Hey how about this! How about putting the guy who's on a Superman
franchise that actually makes you money!

LADY'S & GENTLEMEN I GIVE YOU SUPERMAN!
